A line of trees.

Rows of trees are often found at the edges of farms, serving as windbreaks (also known as shelterbelts).

Tagging

natural=tree_row used on a way.

The way runs through the tree trunks' bases, starts at the trunk of the first tree in the tree row, and ends at the trunk of the last tree in the tree row.

Related tags

  • natural=tree - If individual trees in a tree row are mapped, the tree nodes should be part of the tree row way. However there is no requirement to map the individual trees in a tree row.
  • natural=tree_group - In discussion

Similar tags

  • tree_lined=* - an attribute for roads or waterways (potentially other features) with trees aligned to the feature. Rarely used.
  • alley=left/right/both - for each road-segment with trees, additional tree=numbers (this is a misnomer which likely stems from the similar German word “Allee” for a tree lined road, do not use it)
