Organised Editing Guidelines

The OSM Foundation has created a set of guidelines that summarize expectations, consensus and established conventions based on discussions with the community, the OSMF advisory board and humanitarian mapping efforts.

These guidelines were first published by the Data Working Group in September 2018 and approved by the OSMF board on 15 November 2018.

The Organised Editing Guidelines (OEG) can be found here: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Organised_Editing_Guidelines (download document)

Activities should be entered at Organised_Editing/Activities.

If you’re not sure whether you should apply them, contact the local community for advice.

Enforcement

In a message to the Mailing lists/Talk discussion list, Guillaume Rischard offered clarification on how (in)actions covered by these guidelines would lead to enforcement. From that message:

The Data Working group will intervene for edits the community has issues with, and [we] will not intervene for merely not following the guidelines.
