Proposal
Some schools are focused on a group of pupils with special needs - e.g. students with learning disabilities, autism, ...
Similar to social_facility:for=* and community_center:for=*, this key describes which kind of facilities for special needs are available on the educational institution.
Rationale
At this point, it is not possible to distinguish between the types of schools. One aspect to school is whether or not they have special education and if so, what types of special education they give.
Tagging
In order to gain this tag, the specific target group should have decent facilities and be a significant part of the student population. A school offering ad-hoc facilities for a handful of students having a learning disability does not qualify.
For example, if there is one kid with dyscalculia which is allowed to use their calculator on the final exam, this is ad hoc and does not grant a school:for=dyscalculia.
However, if there are plenty of such students which do get extra courses on maths by a specialized trainer, they can use their calculator on, this does qualify. A good rule of thumb is that no parents needed to complain to get the extra courses.
In some schools, a diagnosis by a doctor is needed to be able to enter. In other schools, non-diagnosed and diagnosed students can both study. In this case, school:for=mainstream;<groups/disabilities for which facilities exist are added.
A non-exhaustive list of possible values is below.

When not to use this tag
This tag is not meant to indicate that this is a boys only/girls only school; for this school:gender=* is already in de-facto use.
This tag is not meant to indicate wheelchair accessibility of the school buildings. In Western countries, most buildings are mostly accessible by wheelchairs, i.e. a normal-able student who broke a leg will probably manage to get around or the administration might move courses to a more accessible classroom for this student, but this does _not_ qualify as being a school:for=reduced_mobility.
In some countries, all schools are obligated to be inclusive where ordinary schools are obligated to accept students with disabilities, unless it is proven not to be possible. As this is the normal course of action for that country and will often imply many ad-hoc-facilities and policies. In other words, this implies the mainstream-tag.
This tag must not be used to tag the subjects of the school or the courses.

I oppose this proposal. fundamentally broken as already discussed --SimonPoole (talk) 11:23, 1 July 2022 (UTC)- I oppose this proposal. I believe this proposal is trying to put a bit too many things into a single tag. The usage of
school=blind,school=deafandschool=special_education_needsshows that there is definitely demand for a tag that distinguishes between schools dedicated to a subset of children. Special education is a well understood concept in many countries, and to tag these schools using this proposal would require listing each disability serviced. Ignoring, of course, that not all cases of autism, ADHD etc, even qualify for these schools; it’s generally very specific to each child. I’d say a better scheme would focus less on what differentiates the student body, and more on the type of schooling. The distinguishing feature of a deaf school is that it generally teaches through non verbal communication, etc. Diacritic (talk) 12:19, 1 July 2022 (UTC) - I oppose this proposal. I still believe we should not mix different concepts into the same key. "Adult" and "child" are about age, other proposed values are about disabilities and disorders, these should not go into the same key. - I oppose this proposal. Although I support using
school:for=*, as how I suggested looking intoamenity=training+training=*compared to broadeningamenity=schoolon diary, I'm more opposed to the suggestion of usingschool:for=*onamenity=*other thanamenity=schoolfor reason of consistency. For other oppositions, the shortcoming of*:for=*in different categories and combinations is common tosocial_facility:for=*that might need to be solved wholly; and you can always add a generalschool:for=*encompassing all special needs.
