Description

Maybe it's better to give description of the sauna in the description=*? Otherwise (dry, hot, +aroma) sauna is not the same?

sauna=yes

IMO it's better to have the sauna type as a specified tag instead of the free-text description; this way tagging will be consistent and you can for example find smoke saunas in your area to perhaps get in contact with the owner of one. --ZeiP (talk) 14:47, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Gay Saunas/Bathhouses.

There should be a sauna=gay for gay bathhouses. "gay" is a simplification (and erases some, like bi men), but I'm unsure a better value. sauna=msm (men who have sex with men) is clinical, and might not be obvious to data users, or mappers. Rorym (talk) 07:48, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

In my opinion the currently used tag brothel:saunaclub=* would fit better. If there are saunas inside the establishment, then they are still one of the sauna types, so of course the sauna=* tag might also fit, but shouldn't be mixed with who / what kind of activity it's meant for. --ZeiP (talk) 17:33, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
They aren't brothels. You don't (and can't) pay for sex. It's where you go when you want sex, to meet other people who want sex. Rorym (talk) 18:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think they're still separate amenities and should be tagged as such. For example a sauna building would be tagged leisure=sauna + sauna=hot (or whatever), hotel amenity=hotel + sauna=hot etc. – so this kind of bathhouse would need a separate amenity tag and you would use sauna=* with that. --ZeiP (talk) 08:33, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
What sort of amenity would that be? They call themselves "sauna". Wikipedia calls them a "gay sauna" or "gay bathhouse"? Rorym (talk) 09:29, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps amenity=sexclub or more specifically amenity=sex_bathhouse? The former would also cover any other forms of places people go to have sex, in which case the sauna=* would specify that it's a bathhouse/sauna. --ZeiP (talk) 09:41, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Maybe a tag LGBT=* LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) e.g. amenity=restaurant + LGBT=yes LGBT friendly restaurant or LGBT=only LGBT only restaurant and simmilar with other tags. amenity=toilets + LGBT=yes LGBT frendly tolilets. More details can be in sub-tags "LGBT:"
For gay sauna meyby: leisure=sauna + sauna=dry + fee=no + access=customers/permissive/private + LGBT=gay or/and LGBT=yes or/and LGBT:gay=only ect.
Why LGBT does not have its own tag? Cz ja (talk) 13:53, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
If it's just a sauna for gays (but not specifically meant for having sex), then this sounds good. If it's specifically for having sex, I think a separate amenity tag would be better; I'd interpret the proposed tagging as just a ”regular sauna” that is meant for / allows LGBT people. --ZeiP (talk) 06:34, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh it's mostly for the sex. --Rorym (talk) 07:39, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think LGBT=* tag is a good option. Sex can be practiced in many places, sauna, pool, toilet, resturant, brothel, disco etc. ... You can add a new tag to any such place, but why it only complicates tagging?!. Usually the sauna is part of a larger SPA, hotel, swimming pool, brothel or a private sauna at home, it is rarely a detached object like a traditional leisure=sauna + sauna=smoke. Moreover, if it is a word game (We should not add any private information to the map), this place should be tagged as a brothel or bar with a sauna, not a "sauna", with tag LGBT=* that the render should support, unless it's a problem for the render, then the LGBT tag does not make sense. We need a simple, logical way of tagging ... without this, the osm database will become a garbage bin.Cz ja (talk) 10:44, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Tag:amenity=love_hotel sounds related Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 19:45, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't think a love hotel is quite related. The wikipedia for Love Hotel on Wikipedia doesn't refer to a gay sauna, and vice versa. The amenity=love_hotel description says it's not the same as a tourism=hotel, and in the same vein, a gay sauna isn't the same as a regular sauna. Rorym (talk) 07:21, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've been meaning to kick start a lgbt=* tag one of these days. :) BTW many gay saunas do have a fee. Rorym (talk) 16:01, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

sauna:water=*

From description it seems to be completely freeform tag. Maybe sauna:water:description=* would be better? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 14:31, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yep, it's a freeform tag. Adding description to the key sounds sensible. Since no-one yet had the time to vote I changed this, thanks. --ZeiP (talk) 14:41, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! This way there is a space for a structured sauna:water tag and it is clear that freeform text is OK there Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:27, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

temperature format

"The designated temperature of the sauna when in use (if any)." - it may be a good idea to specify or link proper temperature format. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:26, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
