Proposal

Mapping of locksmiths; a small shop where you can get services for assembly and designing of locks and their respective keys.

Locksmiths.jpg

Rationale

Currently there exists no tags to map locksmiths. Locksmiths in some form probably exist in every city.

Tagging

The locksmith node or area is tagged as shop=locksmith with useful combinations name=* and other related tags for shops. As 2010-03-02 there are 19 shops tagged as locksmith.

Rendering

A key.

  • I oppose this proposal I oppose this proposal, This is already covered under the freeform values allowed under the shop tag No one is going to tag a locksmith incorrectly - just use the tag, don't think it has to be listed on Map Features. Socks 11:02, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
So that's not really really opposing the proposal as such, just opposing it being listed on Map Features. I'd agree with that. We should do something more compact on Map Features -- Harry Wood 12:05, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I approve this proposal I approve this proposal, It's helpful to have a list of accepted values, especially when there may be alternative spellings. Here we clarify that it's "locksmith", and not "lock-smith", "lock_smith", or "locks" that should be used. It's also useful in this case to distinguish between locksmiths and simple key-cutters. • imho it's pointles voting on these obvious tags, the important thing is to document them so others don't use other versions as Rjw62 gave examples for -- Delta foxtrot2 23:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
  • I approve this proposal I approve this proposal. Useful tag should be obvious, documented, and posted on Map Features --Skippern 00:40, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
  • I approve this proposal I approve this proposal. I agree that having a list of accepted values is a valid goal for numerous reasons, and a locksmith is a useful tag.--turbodog 01:00, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

  • I approve this proposal I approve this proposal. Due to the international nature of OSM, even apparently obvious tags should be documented to prevent confusion between dialects. --DiverCTH 03:41, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
