For an active monastery, use amenity=monastery. For a building that was originally constructed as a monastery, use building=monastery.
How to map
Draw an area around the grounds of the monastery. In cases where it is impossible, or if the monastery only occupies part of the building, one may set a node instead. Tag it with historic=monastery.
