Status: de facto

Indicates the presence of some kind of antenna. Antennas interface between radio waves in free space and electrical signals in a transmission line. Antennas come in a large variety of configurations, shapes and sizes.

Only large ones are mapped using this tag (do not use it to map a wifi antenna of a router).

Additional tags

The tag frequency=* can be used to specify the frequency of operation.

The tag operator=* can be used to specify the operator.

The tag location=roof can be used when antenna is located on the roof of a building.

The prefix communication:*=* can be used to specify the antenna application and appears to duplicate part of the proposed features/antenna:use.

For tagging of what is transmitted, you could have a look at the tags described in this proposal: proposed features/Telecommunications tower or proposed features/antenna:use.

There are some tags that incorporate an antenna, these may be used in preference. You are invited to check the other keys, and compare actual usage numbers with taginfo.

Other tags

Some associate these with antennas, yet they can be used for other things too. If an antenna is present it is best to tag the antenna as well.
