The tag marker=pedestal is used to map a pedestal, which is a type of marker consisting of a small concrete or plastic base supporting a plate which normally contains useful information.

The tag marker=pedestal has to be placed on each individual marker. If this is not possible or practical, you may want to refer to marker=plate which may better suit a different situation.

UK node marker=pedestal The tag marker=pedestal is probably inappropriate for the UK as almost no UK utility markers have a pedestal, i.e. have a support or base that is wider than the top. However, the most common small marker posts in the UK mis-tagged as `marker=pedestal' even though `marker=post' would be more appropriate for them. This is because the majority of the small UK utility markers are rectangular in cross section, and this is a property shared by many pedestal markers elsewhere in the world. See marker=post for more details.
