cycleway:surface:colour=* and footway:surface:colour=*

Looking at taginfo for `surface:colour` it seems popular to also use cycleway:surface:colour=* and footway:surface:colour=*. I couldn't see any documentation about these but I've been using them for a shared path which is segregated=yes to specify the different surfaces colors of the segregated bicycle/foot parts. Any objection to documenting that here? Using cycleway:*=* and footway:*=* on a segregated path to tag the specifics of each part (also e.g. for the width) is the most common way to tag these properties. I don't see an issue documenting this. I would object to foot:surface:colour=* though: The transportation mode is usually added after the main key and before a subkey (e.g. maxspeed:hgv:type=*). That would make it surface:foot:colour=* which is my personal favorite, but is not used often. --Mueschel (talk) 08:59, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
