regelbau

Maybe you mean bunker_type=regelbau ?--geozeisig (talk) 18:24, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

No. It's meant to tell which Regelbau design a german WW2 bunker is--Hjart (talk) 18:58, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

I've tagged a lot of Regelbau in Norway over the last year and have expanded the selection of tags in the category military=bunker. So far I've put the information about regelbau in the "description=*" tag.

I think it may be better to use this as a kind of sub-category like "bunker_design=*"; "bunker_design=regelbau" + "regelbau=*" to futureproof it a bit, so it can be used for other designs than regelbau without adding another category of tags.

Like this example:

  • military=bunker
    • bunker_type=gun_emplacement
      • casemate=yes
    • bunker_design=regelbau
      • regelbau=R671

Sorry for my half bad english. It's not my primary language. --Zetex (talk) 16:52, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

I think adding adding the bunker_design tag is completely unnecessary, even for futureproofing. All it will do is add another layer of tags. Moving the regelbau tag to regelbau_bunker_design or similar might be a good idea though. What do you think about that?
. English is not my native/primary language either (danish is), but I've been primarily reading and writing it for more than 30 years now. --Hjart (talk) 17:40, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Civilian Bunkers

How do you properly map civilian bunkers? The only thing I can really think of, is using building=bunker.

Civilian air raid shelters are still around in some areas and they're not really a military object. I've recently found old maps and floor plans from the 40's, when the bunkers in question have been planned. I confirmed two of those are still there, and I'd like to map them. However, those were purely civilian air raid shelters, with airlocks, emergency power, and rooms for storage and bunks, but they were not for any sort of military use. They were not built by the military either.

I'd suggest using building=bunker and bunker_type=air_raid_shelter.

Btw. it's also debatable whether that should be bunker_type or bunker:type but I guess this is for a different place to discuss that. Polemon (talk) 23:31, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

I think that's a very good perspective.
Civilian shelters should be categorized separately, but first of all, someone created a 'bomb_shelter' key inside the bunker entry, so I think it's a good idea to use that. --깨몽/dreamy (talk) 11:01, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Lifecycle?

Please see discussion at https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2021-January/058798.html re lifecycle of bunkers & associated landuse=military --Fizzie41 (talk) 03:59, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Is there already a summary / outcome ? I assume it's about "active" vs. "historic" (disused) bunkers ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 14:14, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
