VivaMap is an independent heatmap of quality of life across Switzerland. It scores all 2,148 Swiss communes, approximately 3.2 million H3 resolution-10 hexagon cells, and ~2.5 million individual buildings across nine dimensions: noise exposure, air quality, public transport access, education and culture, nightlife and dining, nature and green space, health-care access, taxation, and sunshine.

Use of OpenStreetMap data

VivaMap uses OpenStreetMap as a data input (not as the visual basemap, which is provided by swisstopo). OSM contributes to four of the nine scoring dimensions:

Data is fetched via the Overpass API in the project's ETL pipeline.

Attribution

OpenStreetMap is credited in the page footer of every view ("Data: OFS, geo.admin.ch, OSM") and in the methodology page. VivaMap respects ODbL attribution requirements for OSM-derived data.

Methodology

A full methodology page is published at vivamap.ch/en/methodology. Scores are normalised 0–10 country-wide; data refreshes follow each upstream source's cadence.
