Licensing and Copyright
The logo isn't actually open licensed, however HOT permits the use of the logo by members of the team for communications and promotional activity. We may reconsider this but currently this remains copyright Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team United States Incorporated. We are of course able to waive restrictions on request. If you are not a member of HOT or you are not communicating/promoting HOT with the image, or if you are unsure, then you should contact HOT for permission before using the image.
The reasons for this are basically we want to keep our options open with regards to trademarking and preventing misuse. It's also in line with some projects such as open office. This is not intended to be barrier for people using the new logo for good HOT promotional activity.
