Ireland/Town projects/Celbridge
Celbridge Community Council reached out to OSM Ireland in January 2021. This is a mapping task designed to:
- rationalise landuses and define spaces in the town
- achieve 100% coverage of all buildings in the town
- capture the extent of street furniture and street features
- to record Heritage points of interest
- name all public roads according to their official names
- include natural features and habitats
Mapping Phases
There are several mapping phases planned to ensure that Celbridge is mapped as thoroughly as possible. The phases don't necessarily have to be worked on consecutively, overlaps are welcome, i.e. if you want to work with StreetComplete, you don't have to wait until all the buildings are mapped, just choose an area where they are done already and add house numbers etc there.

Unglue greens/ lawns from streets
Previous mappers have glued landuse=grass and landuse=residential to highway=residential. To correct that, highlight the landuse and choose Tools> Unglue ways in JOSM. Re-align streets and estate boundaries with satellite imagery.

Add house numbers using StreetComplete or Mapillary.

Outline school buildings and define as building=school (and whatever else applies) and add all buildings, sports grounds and parking to a relation type=multipolygon and amenity=school with the name=* and name:ga=* of the school on the relation.
Emergency features
Add emergency=defibrillator and emergency=life_ring (along the River Liffey).
Recycling facilities
Add amenity=recycling and the subtypes. Map public bins and dog waste bins (Tag|recycling:animal_waste||yes/no).
Heritage features
Add and complete historic=memorial, tourism=information and other historical features.
