A waste transfer station is a location that accepts, consolidates and transfers waste in bulk, usually from government or commercial collections.

The consolidated waste is transferred on a regular basis for further procession, for example to a landuse=landfill site. The centre might also accept waste suitable for recycling, such as metals.

As such stations are meant for bulk waste, they will typically have weighbridges for weighing the lorries on entry and exit that can be mapped with amenity=weighbridge.
