A boardwalk or plank walkway is a raised pathway built over the natural ground surface, usually low to the ground and supported by posts.

A boardwalk may exist to allow easier travel over wet or otherwise difficult terrain, to reduce erosion and soil compaction, to protect fragile habitats and vegetation from trampling or to support wildlife movements within their natural habitat.

Tags used in combination

  • surface=* – The surface material of the boardwalk. Commonly surface=wood but other surfaces types are valid.
