In some countries it is possible, that there are POIs like shop=*, amenity=*, craft=* or office=* where the operator offers postal services on behalf of a postal service provider. That could be a bank, a fuel station, a supermarket, a kiosk and others. These postal partners often do not offer the full range of services.
Note that while such usage was originally not envisioned by the voted proposal to be used on amenity=post_office, in practice there is a significant number of post_office=post_partner (29% as of February 2026) used in exactly that combination.
This usage is somewhat controversial, but no better alternative has been found on how to tag exact locations of such post partners (i.e. post-office alike counters without full range of postal services) inside e.g. big shop=supermarket or shop=mall polygons.
Tagging
Add to the POI the tag post_office=post_partner and specify the postal services over the post_office=* namespace.

Legacy tagging
Previously post partners were tagged as post_office:type=post_partner but that has been deprecated by the shop as post-partner proposal.
Note that usage of amenity=post_office + post_office=post_partner is possibly related to now deprecated tag combination of amenity=post_office + post_office:type=post_partner which didn't get adequate replacement. See external links for discussion and statistics about it.
