Additional tags

The main page could use some guidance on tag usage, after researching it on tagwatch of course:

  • price
  • automatic=yes/no (maybe manned=yes/no?)
  • link to standard way to do opening hours
  • manned=yes/no
  • bikini=yes/no ;)

How to specify interior ?

How to tag Car Detailers (that do manual car wash)

Is this the correct/preferred way to tag a car detailer that does wax, interior cleaning, etc., but does not have a drive through car wash (they do washing themselves such as manual hand wash)?

name=*
amenity=car_wash
automated=no
self_service=no

Jet Washer station

How about if it is just a coin/token-operated jet washer? It is still a 'car washing facility' offered by the garage Jnicho02 (talk) 13:55, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Yes, with self_service=yes + automated=no Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:28, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Dog wash?

Quite a few car washes around here also offer dog washing! e.g. https://www.facebook.com/The-Quick-Car-Wash-159079960776638/.

Simply include dog=yes? --Fizzie41 (talk) 01:00, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

That shows dogs are allowed inside. There is a shop=pet_grooming, although not limited to simple washing. --- Kovposch (talk) 08:40, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
dog_washing=yes? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 16:14, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
*_washing=* is unscalable as seen from #Motorcycle Wash question below. With 30 TagInfo service:vehicle:wash=* , and 23 TagInfo service:bicycle:wash=* (not following from service:bicycle:cleaning=* , but only 13 TagInfo service:vehicle:cleaning=* ) , it will be best to use eg service:*:dog=* . Unfortunately service:vehicle:*=* made a bad precedence that's not even following the meaning of *:vehicle=* . Maybe service:dog:*=* could be used, if not resembling "service dog" too much.

That's probably the simplest option, so will add it.--Fizzie41 (talk) 01:28, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

There is 3 dog_wash=yes now. This makes me think whether there should be difference between *_wash=* and *_washing=* . *_wash=* could mean there are special wash equipment as in truck_wash=* systems. *_washing=* would accordingly mean something can be washed, same as your format.

Drive-in tagging

For automated car washes, where the car is parked (occupants remain in the vehicle) and the wash machine moves back and forth (e.g. [1]), I assume drive_in=* could be added? I think drive_in=* is technically correct over drive_through=* since the car is parked whilst the amenity is being used.Casey boy (talk) 10:55, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Additional tag for Touchless Car Wash

Many automated car washes use large brushes that touch the car to remove dirt and grime. These can be controversial since if the brushes are not maintained well, they can end up scratching the paint. I suggest the use of this tag to inform if the car wash is touchless:

touchless=yes/no

Motorcycle Wash

How do we tag motorcycle only washing centres? amenity=motorcycle_wash? --Pantufla (talk) 12:14, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

It's simply a mess. Tag:amenity=car_wash#Tags_used_in_combination has truck_wash=yes , and bus=* (which should be bus=private not bus=designated when only that company's buses can use it). Then there is the incomprehensible tank_cleaning_truck=* that's not about trucks that can clean tanks, seemingly swapped from tank_truck_cleaning=* .

If the amenity is no part of a service station but only washing and really only motorcycles I see no other way than TagInfo amenity=motorcycle_wash (count: 3 ), like amenity=bicycle_wash.
Else amenity=car_wash + motorcar=no + motorcycle=yes like on amenity=charging_station would also do it (technically) but car_wash + motorcar=no seems a bit weird to users, IMHO. --Chris2map (talk) 08:43, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Maybe amenity=vehicle_wash + vehicle_wash=car or vehicle_wash=motorcycle, etc. --Pantufla (talk) 08:01, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
