A monorail is a distinctive railway where the trains run on one single rail, often suspended above streets. See http://www.monorails.org for more information.

Monorails are not common but can be an important part of the landscape, especially for tourist maps. Sydney has a monorail as does Tokyo (going to Haneda airport).

Monorails are often included as transportation within a bigger tourist attraction, for example a theme park (such as Disneyland), zoos, and so on. Mappers may also want to include driver-less systems that occur within some big aiprorts for terminal transfer.

Usage

This tag should be applied to ways.

Where possible, create a way per track, and add a oneway=* tag to indicate which direction the trains generally travel in on that track.
