The Locator Overlay (or Locator for short) is an overlay layer that comes with default OpenStreetMap settings. It displays OSM data in a monochrome style, with support for some highway shields (such as Interstate highways). State routes appear in an oval, county routes are labeled inside a rounded-corner rectangle, and exit routes appear in rectangles with sharp corners. Streets appear, too, with certain words (in English, including but not limited to: all direction words, Avenue, Boulevard, Highway, Parkway, Freeway, Expressway, Point, Place, but not Trail) almost always being abbreviated.
The layer appears to sync its data with OpenStreetMap's data once every few weeks or so.
