Unintuitive

  • "Small vehicle" makes me think of small automobiles, from  Toyota C+pod and  Toyota COMS to  Kei car. Is there a better word in  Personal_transporter#Terminology? (Is amenity=carrier_bike_parking actually cargo bike?) -- Kovposch (talk) 05:21, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
    • For most of the keys I listed as currently used, including "carrier_bike" I have no idea what they refer to exactly.
I know that "small_vehicle" is maybe not the best term, but I couldn't come up with a better one so far - I'm open for suggestions.
About the three examples, I think Kei cars and similar vehicles are a subgroup of motorcars and would not be in the scope of this proposal. --Mueschel (talk) 10:35, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
      • Hello! I think  Micromobility is the most common term for these modes of transport? 'micromobility parking' seems to be an emerging term... --Kylenz 00:04, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
        • "micromobility parking" seems better to me - small vehicle parking sounds like parking for a compact car to me (and I am extreme city cyclist, so if even I interpreted it as referring to cars then it will be likely a general confusion) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:26, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
It includes bikes though, if not everything in  Micromobility#List_of_vehicles. "micro" is usually not a precise categorization.
I thought about "personal", for the single individual capacity.

In your other proposal you aim to deprecate scooter=* as it is too vague in its meaning. Maybe in this case the vagueness could be helpful. So how about using amenity=scooter_parking? Discostu36 (talk) 06:10, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

Why not use motorcycle_parking?

Examples and distinction from other amenities -> small vehicle rental

Example 2
Example 1
Example 3 - distinction from rental amenities?

I think it's a good idea to use a "collective term" for small vehicles of all kinds instead of having separate parking keys for each vehicle type. I recently noticed several discussions on how to tag (electric) scooter parking spaces, so it's a good time to propose a documented concept. I think the term "small vehicle parking" is fine and is compatible to your ElectricScooters-Proposal.

I have two more example photos and another example to distinguish parking spaces from other amenities (share-/rental spaces). Maybe you can use them for your list.

  • Example 1 is a simple ground marking for parking small electric scooters/vehicles (amenity=small_vehicle_parking + small_electric_vehicle=designated + small_vehicle_parking=floor).
  • Example 2 might be an alternative picture for your first case shown in the proposal.
  • Example 3 is more a rental station for small electric scooters/vehicles, bicycles and motor scooters - amenities of this kind should be better distinguished from "parking spaces". We have invented the - unfortunately still undocumented - tag "amenity=mobility_hub" in our area for this, as these places are intended for sharing/renting different types of vehicles. Usually the areas are even larger and include different sub-areas for different types of vehicles. In other cases - if there are just small electric vehicles for rental - a new tag like amenity=small_vehicle_rental is also needed. Perhaps you should discuss this distinction in your proposal, as it might be an interesting question how to distinguish between these forms? --Supaplex030 (talk) 21:08, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Please feel free to add the examples to the table - as you know the locations, you can add details more easily. You're right that I forgot to mention the distinction to rental facilities in the Wiki - I think I wrote something about it on the mailing list. --Mueschel (talk) 16:05, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

small vehicle + bicycle parking

In your first example you write: "The bicycle and scooter parking have separate areas in this case, so they can be mapped as separate objects."

This is not correct - the same space is intended for both vehicles. In my opinion, bicycle=designated should be added in addition to small_electric_vehicle=designated - or the area should be mapped as a amenity=bicycle_parking. (However, I would still call this space a small vehicle parking, rather than a bicycle parking, as there are no facilities for locking bicycles and the use seems to be aimed more at small vehicles).

In this way, I have just mapped the above mentioned "Example 3" and thus created the first real life reference for your proposal ;) https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1020391779 --Supaplex030 (talk) 21:36, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

  • If the intention is that bicycles are parked on the asphalt area, then you are right. There are several loops to lock bicycles between the trees - so my intention is to put a amenity=bicycle_parking there and a small_electric_vehicle=designated in the front, even though the traffic sign includes bicycles. --Mueschel (talk) 16:03, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
