Pilates is an exercise programme using dynamic, fluid and controlled movements with fewer repetitions, aimed at strengthening the core and improving posture.

It is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates.

How to map

Since sport=pilates is a non-physical tag, it should be combined with other top-level tags; e.g.:

  • leisure=fitness_centre - An indoor sports facility offering one or more forms of exercise (exercise machines, fitness and dance classes, etc).
  • leisure=sports_hall - A sufficiently large single room that is suitable for practising sports indoors and does not have a "centre" character.
