London/Summer 2008 Mapping Party Marathon
The London Mapping Party Marathon 2008 was the very first series of weekly mapping/pub events organised in London, and (in terms of mapping) probably the most spectacular! It was organised by User:Smsm1 who was working at CloudMade at the time. In 2008 there was a lot to be done! The streets were not yet mapped out, or often had no name tag. So these mini mapping parties were really creating the London map in OpenStreetMap in many areas. They occurred weekly, alternating each week between the north and south of the river.
It was followed by London/Winter 2008-9 Random Pub Meetup (we decided to carry on with social pub meet-ups during the "off-season")
Before this there were no other event series, but there were some earlier isolated events: London mapping party Jan 2007 and Map Limehouse Event 2005
