Proposal talk:Building
How about putting gothic into an architecture tag, rather than using it as the type of building? That way any of these buildings can have architecture=gothic|modern|georgian|brutalist, etc. [1] Ojw 19:09, 22 Aug 2006 (BST)
Excellent idea.
Civic isn't a physical property of a building but a way it is owned or used, so I changed this to hall as we could use hall as a value for buildings such as churches, cathedrals and the UK parliament. Then use the 'use' tag to tag how the building is used. This can be used multiple times for multi-use buildings. We can also use the architecture tag. Eg St paul's cathedral would have building=hall architecture=baroque then perhaps have tags for use=church landowner=general_synod
Houses of parliament would be name="Parliament, UK" building=hall architecture=gothic use=civic Big Ben, the well known gothic clock tower attached to parliament would be name="Big Ben" building=tower architecture=gothic use=clock NickH 12:28, 23 Aug 2006 (BST)

- This was already implemented pretty thoroughly with amenity=place_of_worship. You can combine it with a building=anything-you-like or even a tourism=attraction if it's a very nice one :) Proposed_features/wayside_shrine and Proposed_features/wayside_cross might fit your suggestions too. --achadwick 14:31, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
building semi
In Greece we have more than 2 houses attached to one wall. Usually I can spot more than 6 houses "stuck together" without any space in between Logictheo 08:16, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Do they resemble any of the housing at [2] (those would be building=terrace with this proposal), or are they more free-form? --achadwick 14:23, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Greenhouses are not buildings?
I'd like to tag greenhouses, as they take a massive area near my city but can't be rendered:
This is called the "Plastic Sea", which is 45km long by 15km wide. Can they be included in the proposal? --Schumi4ever 17:34, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- It is on the proposal. No wait... actually "glasshouse" is on the proposal. Que another debate -- Harry Wood 00:38, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Status of Building = (value) ?
Is it correct that the key-value pair "building=house" is not supported by the proposal as approved, but rather a pair of pairs is needed such as "building=yes" and "type=house"? --Ceyockey 01:29, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- Browsing the Tagwatch it seems it's used anyway, even more than the building=yes + building:type=* combination. Alv 06:14, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
