I recommend to use the classification of "annual traffic census" to map into OSM keys

trunk for UT (urban trunk) even if it no longer belongs to a route (e.g. Gloucester Road)

primary for PD (primary distributor)

secondary for DD (district distributor)

tertiary for LD (local distributor)

either primary or secondary for RR (rural road) depending on if it has been improved.

This is not a correct appreciation of the classification. It serves a planning function, mainly for deciding the road standard to be constructed to. It doesn't neccessarily reflect current use, especially in history. ---- Kovposch (talk) 21:00, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
