For a tram stop on tram and light rail systems the tag railway=tram_stop can be used.
For all public transport stop position and platforms the public transport scheme should be used.
How to Map
Add a node to the railway=rail way at the position where the station can be found and tag it with railway=halt and name=*.
Have a look at public_transport=stop_position
Instead of the railway=rail tag you can also use this tag for railway=subway, railway=monorail ways.
