Likely because of OsmAnd's support of the whitewater schema, the whitewater key has been used in many places, where canoe would be more appropriate. Rather than map for the renderer, please upvote and comment on the request for OsmAnd to add support for the canoe key.

Most of the riverbank of the Flint River is one giant area formed by two lengths of way combined by a relation. This should be split into smaller areas. Looking at the official guide, there are many more put ins and amenities yet to be mapped. |

Bicycle Trails
Bicycle and Cycle routes are popular in the state of Michigan for recreation use. Following is a listing of route relations that may consist of ways primarily dedicated to bicycle use ( highway=cycleway), a cycle lane within a road (cycleway=*), trails or roads which are part of cycle routes bicycle=designated. Mountain biking use can be distinguished by using route=mtb, mtb=* values.

Off-Road Vehicle Trails/Routes
Current state of ATV/UTV/Motorcycle trails. See the Common Tagging Schemes section of the main Michigan for quick reference to mapping trails and their amenities. Many of these trails are limited to a specified width, so consider tagging with the maxwidth=*, value is in meters, not feet or inches so conversion is needed from published data. Some trails are narrow and specifically for motorcycle use; others may permit full-size highway vehicles. Use *=designated to specify the allowed motorized vehicle use such as for (motorcycle=*, atv=*). Trails may also be open to multiple uses such as foot or bicycle use, consider tagging foot=yes, bicycle=yes, or mtb=yes. Horse-back riding is generally not a permitted use on off-road vehicle trails, so carefully review any segments tagged with horse=*. These routes may coincide with winter snowmobile=* trails and routes also. Consider creating a relation when a route includes both on-road and off-road trail segements. A comprehensive listing of off-road vehicle trails and routes can be found at the Michigan DNR website. Many of these trails have been financed by annual off-road vehicle licenses and trail permit fees, which in turn increases the number of trails available to ride and their continued maintenance.

Snowmobile Trail/Routes
Current state of Over-Snow, Snowmobile trails and routes. See the Common Tagging Schemes section of the main Michigan for quick reference to mapping trails and their amenities. See snowmobile=* for a guide to tagging snowmobile routes. More information can also be found at the Michigan Snowmobile & ORV Assocation. Snowmobile routes are best created as relations because they coincide with many other roads and trails that have spring/summer/autumn uses. Some segments may be limited to only seasonal=winter use for over-snow vehicles because they cross wetlands or cultivated fields that are impassable in other seasons. Use snowmobile=designated to specify the approved use of the segment as part of a route for over-snow vehicles. Consider using the ref=* tag to indicate the route name/number to avoid conflicts with name=*. For seasonal roads included in the snowmobile route, add winter_service=* and snowplowing=* to record winter maintenance level. See trailblazed=* for information on recording trail markers and blazes. Sometimes snowmobile routes parallel snowplowed roads, operating on the shoulder or the vegetation-free right-of-way (verge=*, and in that case should be mapped as part of the road feature.
