Colombia/Guide for mapping/traffic signs

Below is the list of signals in Colombia according to the 2015 Road Signaling Manual of Invias.

How to map

The road sign itself is mapped with a node node at the location of the sign and is tagged with traffic_sign=* according to the list. However, more important than mapping the warning is applying the corresponding labels to the objects that the warning affects. For example, while it is useful to map speed limit warnings, it is even more important to apply the maxspeed=* tag to affected roads.

For more information about how to label based on a road marking notice (whether it should be applied to a node node, a way line, or a relation relationship, for example) see the column Related Tags. If in doubt, follow the related tag link for more information about it(s). You may also find the traffic_sign=* article helpful.

Regulatory

They are those mostly circular signs with a red border.

Preventive

Those signs are mostly a rhombus with a yellow background.

Informative

These are mostly square or rectangular signs with a blue, brown, green, white or red background.

Works

Works signs (ie those with prefixes SRO, SPO and SIO) are temporary in nature, therefore they should not be mapped.

Special Events

Special event signals (ie those with a PEE prefix) are temporary in nature, therefore they should not be mapped.
