What are the PoliMappers Adventures?

PoliMappers is going to publish on its social media channels ( polimappers and @PoliMappers) a simple challenge everyday for the entire month of December 2018, with the purpose of contributing to OpenStreetMap while having fun. The idea is inspired by the traditional  Advent calendar.

How to participate?

1. Follow us on our social media channels.
2. Read the instructions for the challenge of the day.
3. Important: add #polimappersadventures in your changeset comment when you modify the OpenStreetMap database. (If you are a member of PoliMappers, please add also the hashtags #youthmappers #polimappers.)

November 25 ❄	November 26 ❄	November 27 ❄	November 28 ❄	November 29 ❄	November 30- ☽ ❄	December 1 A new year of adventures also means learning something new about OSM on Learn OSM. If you want to map using what you learned today, add #polimappersadventures to the comment of your changesets!
December 2 What happens if you would like to map and you don't have your computer? You use your smartphone! Download and learn how to use MapSwipe! With one tap you can map!	December 3 It's Monday, so it is time to start mapping! Find a street lamp and map it using the tag: highway=street_lamp.	December 4 Map a tree row with the tag: natural=tree_row.	December 5 Give humanitarian help! Log in with your OpenStreetMap account and contribute to a HOT task!	December 6 Fix and close an issue/note. You can find them by activating the notes layer at zoom level 9 or higher on the OSM map.	December 7 - ⚫ Are you getting crazy buying presents? Remember to tag the shop where you go using the tag: shop=*!	December 8 There are different types of recycling bins, find for batteries and drugs and map them with the tag: amenity=recycling plus the tag: recycling:batteries=yes or tag: recycling:drugs=yes.
December 9 Giving humanitarian help is possible also with TeachOSM. Log in with your OpenStreetMap account and contribute to our PoliMappers TeachOSM project!	December 10 Map with JOSM. In case of need, consult the HOT webinar basic level and advanced level!	December 11 Create a GPS track using the OsmAnd application and then upload it on OSM traces.	December 12 Map the opening hours using the tag: opening_hours=*. This can be complex but this tool can help you!	December 13 Take photos with Mapillary or OpenStreetCam! Download them on your smartphone and use them with iD editor to map features on OpenStreetMap!	December 14 Another way to use images for mapping is Pic4Review, choose one mission and start mapping!	December 15 - ☽ Also some local chapters have their tasking manager! Log in with your OSM account to the Italian OSM Tasking Manager and map the Italian roads! More information can be found at guide.
December 16 Visit your city and map the building levels using the tag: building:levels=* and explore the results with a 3D map!	December 17 Find a building or an entrance and map the house number and the name of the street it is on! Use the tags documented in: addr=*. Check the guidelines for your country!	December 18 Have you ever explored the OpenStreetMap Wiki? Start creating your own user page and share it with us!	December 19 Find a fire hydrant and map its type, this can help firemen! Use the tag: fire_hydrant:type=*.	December 20 Create your map with the data from OpenStreetMap using Mapbox Studio! Create your map style and share it with us! A full guide can be found here!	December 21 - ⛄ Humanitarian help can be done also by validating a HOT task, and today it is Validation Friday! Can you find a video that explains how to do it!	December 22- ⚪ Find on the OpenStreetMap a place like a shop, a transport stop, or a toilet and add the tags documented in: wheelchair=*.
December 23 Create a map with uMap and share it with a friend. uMap is an open-source software to create your custom map using OpenStreetMap.	December 24 Help to translate a page in the Wiki or update an existing translation to help other contributors.	December 25 - ✨ Support HOT's work via donation!	December 26 Add the surface to a road, a step or an area using the tags:surface=*. You can do it also with StreetComplete!	December 27 A map can save lives and defibrillators are essential in this regard, map one using the tag :emergency=defibrillator.	December 28 Download and learn how to use Geopaparazzi or GoMap!	December 29 - ☾ Use the application you downloaded yesterday to map a drinking fountain using the tag :amenity=drinking_water!
December 30 Add the website of a shop using the tag :website=*.	December 31 Also, the second year of PoliMappers adventure is finished. Write a post on your OSM Diary about your experience with us! Show your love for OpenStreetMap, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), OpenStreetMap Italia and PoliMappers and be creative. Your post may include a photo of you or your changesets! It is not mandatory to participate everyday. ;-)
