The tag natural=cave_entrance is used to map the entrance to a cave (natural underground space large enough for a human to enter).

How to map

Create a node at the location of the entrance and add the tag natural=cave_entrance.

cave:ref:*=* number in a cave cadastre, see Cave#Cave:ref and variants
opening_hours=* season, day of week, time
material=* the material of the cave's floor, roof, and walls. For example, limestone or pumice
fee=* yes/no
ele=* elevation
direction=* direction of the cave entrance (looking outside)
access=* "no" if forbidden
"private" if you have to obtain permission (and, possibly, a key) to enter. Access means "legal access".
barrier=* gate/wall/door/etc. - the physical entrance barrier

A cave that has its entrance gated, but you can ask the local caving club for the key should be tagged natural=cave_entrance, access=private, barrier=gate

A cave that has no entrance barrier but may not be entered by law should be tagged natural=cave_entrance, access=no

A showcave that can be entered through a door after payment of a fee on Monday-Friday from 10am to 8pm should be tagged natural=cave_entrance, barrier=door, fee=yes, opening_hours=Mo-Fr 10:00-20:00
