The usual mess

This is a standard case of the meaningless *:type=* suffix. Different attributes are mixed unstructured, duplicating with existing tags.

• *=building : 2 example photos seem to overlap with *=shelter . For remaning File:Bücherbox 2012.jpg , the original upload says "Begehbare Litfaßsäule mit Bücherregalen." , meaning it's more of a large hollow advertising=column with amenity=public_bookcase inside??? Anyway, if there's really a whole small dedicated building=* , building=* + amenity=public_bookcase is enough.
• *=*_cabinet
  • *=glass_cabinet , *=metal_cabinet , *=wooden_cabinet : Duplicates material=*
    • *=metal_cabinet  : " with glass doors" is unnecessary and counterintuitive. What to use for actual all-metal ones for metallic door?
  • *=movable_cabinet : *=*:movable exists in bridge:movable=* , or it can be simplified to movable=* . *:installation=* is in cycle_barrier:installation=* , may be installation=* .
  • *=wall_cabinet : Duplicates support=wall
  • *=phone_box : Key:covered#covered=booth has poor logic. amenity=public_bookcase + covered=* means the cover surrounding the bookcase, not the books. Obviously amenity=telephone can be used for phones indoors, on walls, or on tables. It isn't limited to phone boxes. was:amenity=telephone could be used.
• *=reading_box : I don't understand what is this. It seems "Lesebox" can be a German synonym for amenity=public_bookcase itself.

• *=sculpture : Need to consider double feature with tourism=artwork + artwork_type=sculpture . Same issue as artwork_type=statue on amenity=bench .
• *=shelf : There's actually amenity=shelf for some reason. As that doesn't specify a function, it may be better as man_made=shelf , then may be combined here.
  • location=indoor : Overlaps with indoor=yes . Cf outdoor=* . location=*door collides with other location=* for the relative vertical position. It's originally devised for power=substation , but a amenity=public_bookcase won't be partially outdoors, and partially indoors.
• *=shelter : Duplicates shelter=yes
• *=silo : Circle-shaped *=building ? Still overlaps building=* .
• *=download : This is not a structure, nor a position. Would be an actual candidate for use in public_bookcase=* . But maybe it can be books=ebook , or ebook=only , etc. Cf qr_code=yes Proposal:Information=qr code
