This tag is used in conjunction with railway=station or railway=halt to describe a light rail station.
How to Map
For light rail stations just add one node 
in the center of the station.
- railway=station or railway=halt (mandatory) (the "station" must have switches otherwise it is a halt only)
- station=light_rail (mandatory)
