This Key allows the specification of the maximum speed that is allowed.
This Key allows the specification of the maximum speed that is allowed. Values are assumed to be in km/h unless units are explicit - e.g. speed limits in miles per hour should be "30mph".

Values are given in km/h without the "km/h". Mph values shall be converted to km/h.

Note: The conversion of units shall be task of the editor software, not of the routing software (Do it only once!)

FAQ

  • If there is no speed limit, like on some German motorways, please use maxspeed=none. --Lulu-Ann 08:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

  • If there are automatic traffic signals with speed limitations, please use maxspeed=signals. --Lulu-Ann 08:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

  • If there is no specific numeric maxspeed given e.g. in pedestrians precincts in Germany or Austria, please use maxspeed=walk --Cbm 07:57, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

  • What to do if the real possible speed is below the allowed speed?
