Disused things in general

This tag is widely accepted, because mapping a disused railway is of wide interest and doesn't conflict much with other mapping. But this tag is part of a larger can of worms around mapping of "disused" things in general. disused=yes is an alternative tagging approach with various problems. See Comparison of life cycle concepts for more on this recurring discussion.

There is some use of disused=tram and disused=railway to mark railway type without using lifestyle prefixes.
